Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara Review

By now, you’ve probably already heard about Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara but have you tried it for yourself? I wanted to splurge on the stuff ages ago but couldn’t believe the Before & After pictures I saw online. I was worried that I couldn’t make mine look the same way, that it would be difficult to apply, or that I would have to basically be a make up artist to get the stuff to work properly. I don’t know- I just, typically, find that the too-easy-to-be-true marketing means exactly that.

With Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara, which I was supplied free for this sponsored review, I was pleasantly surprised. The Moodstruck mascara comes in two little tubes, one being a transplanting gel and one being the fibers. According to the website, found here, you can increase your average lash volume substantially-  The results observed in independent laboratory testing included a 384.5% increase after one application; greater than 2,000% after three applications when compared against bare lashes.

To Use Moodstruck Mascara

It’s pretty easy to apply and achieve a look you desire;

  1. Apply an even coat of Transplanting Gel to lashes.
  2. Immediately apply 3D Fibers while Transplanting Gel is wet.
  3. Seal the fibers with Transplanting Gel.

Repeat until you’ve reached desired fullness.

The first time I tried out the product, I was overly excited and simply jumped right in without reading the directions. I tore open the packaging, appreciated the pretty bundle it is sent in and I tried it on immediately butI applied it without sealing the lashes. Woops! They actually looked alright but I was losing little fibers on to my cheeks through the day and the lashes looked somewhat feathered. My lovely Younique rep, Sarah, let me know that the main issues ladies have with this mascara is when they don’t follow the instructions properly. I have heard other women say it “makes your lashes look like spider legs” and, when I didn’t seal mine, I discovered that similar effect. You most certainly need the second coat of the transplanting gel so don’t forget that step!

The Look

As you can see, there’s quite a difference and this is just with one coat;

I didn’t go bigger because I was having difficulty with them not hitting my lids and making a mess, that’s how long they were! For pictures, I couldn’t have tiny black spots all over my top lid, or smudges  from trying to wipe it off, so I couldn’t effectively show you that look.

All in all, I was thoroughly impressed by the Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara. I can understand the price tag and, given the fact that you pay nearly this much for higher end drug store brands, I think it’s a worthwhile investment if you’re a regular mascara user. I love the versatility, in the sense that you can go big and overly glamorous or opt for a simpler look. For me personally, I find the multiple coats to look too over the top. However, there are a variety of pictures on the website that showcase some incredibly beautiful layered lashes.
The new and improved formula gets my approval and, if you try it for yourself, I would love to see your pictures!

Skin Care Products Every Woman Should Own- Vitamin C

I’m always afraid to walk into the liquor store because, although I love wine, I really hate being asked for ID. I hate being asked for it even more when, often times, I’m not carrying a piece of it on me and have dashed from our vehicle with only cash in hand. Although I am nearly 30 years old, I am constantly told that I’m far too young to have children or asked for my skin secrets because I don’t have any blemishes. I’m not tooting my own horn here but simply stating what qualifies me to make a post regarding a few facial secrets. I’m often complimented on my skin and, although I never thought much of it before, I’m now desperately trying to cling to my youth like a starving man wrestling for a turkey leg.

I am routinely sent free products to review, such as the Oz Naturals Facial Toner or the Tangerine Lilly Vitamin C Serum, and don’t always put a ton of stock into what’s passing through the vanity at any given time. I can’t stop to enjoy any one thing for a long period of time before the next, similar product arrives at the door. However, with how often vitamin c is discussed in the media, on other blogs or on television, I have used many creams and serums of this nature. These are two that I’ve stuck with, each having their own unique properties and value, as well as being affordable, easy to use and effective. I want their collagen stimulation and I enjoy the healthy “glow” that I’ve noticed since bringing them on to my age fighting team;

Tangerine Lilly has actually been kind enough to sponsor a giveaway, for one lucky Canadian reader to receive their serum and you can enter below for your chance to win.
Please check out my video for the full review and be nice! I’m new to video reviews and know that I have plenty of work to do but I’ll improve- promise. If you like the products, I would truly appreciate you using the above affiliate links to purchase them. It helps support my blog!

Jamberry Nails- wrap review, plus giveaway!

Woot woot! My finger tips currently look like beautifully wrapped Christmas presents, thanks to Jamberry Nails! Admittedly, I had heard about these before and saw them mentioned in People Magazine but I had zero clue what was so special about them, if I needed to go somewhere to have them applied or what the whole deal was. My sister-in-law recently became a sales rep for the company so, of course, I had to check more into it.
Now, I’m a fairly “crunchy” Mama, as regular readers know; we cloth diaper, try to eat primarily organic, cook from scratch with fresh ingredients and go phthalate/chemical/synthetic free whenever possible. That being said, I do like visiting a nail salon once in a while and enjoy the time out of the house, prettying it up and taking a break in order to get a nice manicure. That and hairspray are two things I will still indulge in whenever given the opportunity- I’m weak I tell ya, weak!
Anyway, nail polish never lasts long in a house with four children, dishes to do, things to scrub and, to make matters worse, I’ll chew my nails. It’s gross, I know, but I hate when they start growing the littlest bit because I can’t stand being able to see the underneath of them. I do that or will need to have them painted constantly, which I pick at polish, and that just ends up a futile endeavor.
With Jamberry Nails, I’ve been able to grow my nails longer, have them protected, I don’t want to chew or peel chipping polish off (as it doesn’t happen) and the vinyl covering will strengthen my nail to boot. It seems much better than a trip to a nail salon, where they’ll file down my nails until they’re ruined, super glue tips on and use a bunch of chemicals to build up a fake nail. It’s cheaper too!
It’s not a perfect product where PVC is concerned, if I am going to be entirely honest, but I eliminate the inhalation of scents, as well as the need to remove it with acetone. Points for that.
They’re easy to apply too! Supplies required;

Scissors and/or nail scissors, a nail file, Jamberry wraps, tweezers (or something to hold the wrap with while you heat it), a hair dryer, that cool stick doo dad (not entirely necessary but I like it) and a glass of wine. The glass of wine may not be your preferred beverage of choice, although I highly recommend it. Yes, it is required for manicure- trust me.
For each nail, you trim the wrap to size, heat them up for 3-5 seconds one by one and stick them to your nail. Try to not touch skin or the nail bed, then apply a good deal of pressure while you smooth out everything perfectly. The adhesive will keep the wrap on your nails for about 2 weeks, while maintaining their perfect look the entire time, and they will last even longer on toes.

Check out the final, picture perfect result too!

How gorgeous and festive do those look?
This is only my second time applying these wraps, the first being a tester on my pinky finger only, so I would say that I’m a newb to the nail world. I am not a professional, by far, and can manage to do these without issue. They are a cinch to deal with, very simple instructions are provided, and there is a wide array of options available in the online shop, which you can access here.

One of the best things about Jamberry is that it is also incredibly easy, unlike with ordinary polish, to make your lead hand look as nice as the other! See how mine compare?

I did both myself and they look the same, which is a first for me. Plus, there is no drying time and no post-mani screw ups the second you’re done.

I love the massive array of design options listed on the site, as well as the “buy 3, get one free” option because it makes some Christmas gifts a no-brainer for me. Always handy this time of year, especially with the festive prints available.
If you order via the Facebook shop, international shipping is possible so be sure to get in touch with Ash if you’re living overseas and want to hop on the jamwagon! I have already gone ahead and ordered a poinsettia print for my following set and, thank you to Ashley, my sister-in-law,  your next jamicure could be on us!
You will get the print pictured throughout this review;
