Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara Review

By now, you’ve probably already heard about Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara but have you tried it for yourself? I wanted to splurge on the stuff ages ago but couldn’t believe the Before & After pictures I saw online. I was worried that I couldn’t make mine look the same way, that it would be difficult to apply, or that I would have to basically be a make up artist to get the stuff to work properly. I don’t know- I just, typically, find that the too-easy-to-be-true marketing means exactly that.

With Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara, which I was supplied free for this sponsored review, I was pleasantly surprised. The Moodstruck mascara comes in two little tubes, one being a transplanting gel and one being the fibers. According to the website, found here, you can increase your average lash volume substantially-  The results observed in independent laboratory testing included a 384.5% increase after one application; greater than 2,000% after three applications when compared against bare lashes.

To Use Moodstruck Mascara

It’s pretty easy to apply and achieve a look you desire;

  1. Apply an even coat of Transplanting Gel to lashes.
  2. Immediately apply 3D Fibers while Transplanting Gel is wet.
  3. Seal the fibers with Transplanting Gel.

Repeat until you’ve reached desired fullness.

The first time I tried out the product, I was overly excited and simply jumped right in without reading the directions. I tore open the packaging, appreciated the pretty bundle it is sent in and I tried it on immediately butI applied it without sealing the lashes. Woops! They actually looked alright but I was losing little fibers on to my cheeks through the day and the lashes looked somewhat feathered. My lovely Younique rep, Sarah, let me know that the main issues ladies have with this mascara is when they don’t follow the instructions properly. I have heard other women say it “makes your lashes look like spider legs” and, when I didn’t seal mine, I discovered that similar effect. You most certainly need the second coat of the transplanting gel so don’t forget that step!

The Look

As you can see, there’s quite a difference and this is just with one coat;

I didn’t go bigger because I was having difficulty with them not hitting my lids and making a mess, that’s how long they were! For pictures, I couldn’t have tiny black spots all over my top lid, or smudges  from trying to wipe it off, so I couldn’t effectively show you that look.

All in all, I was thoroughly impressed by the Younique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara. I can understand the price tag and, given the fact that you pay nearly this much for higher end drug store brands, I think it’s a worthwhile investment if you’re a regular mascara user. I love the versatility, in the sense that you can go big and overly glamorous or opt for a simpler look. For me personally, I find the multiple coats to look too over the top. However, there are a variety of pictures on the website that showcase some incredibly beautiful layered lashes.
The new and improved formula gets my approval and, if you try it for yourself, I would love to see your pictures!

GlassesShop- and a discount for all!

I’m thinking my general theme for this past fortnight should be “eyes”.

As mentioned in my last post about the dragon contact lenses, I have received quite a few products that focus on the eye area lately, be those glasses, make up, creams or contacts. I’m not sure if the universe is attempting to force the realization upon me that I’m aging (thanks, universe-  duly noted), that my eyes need some TLC, or what exactly is up but this post is no exception. Brought to you, and me, by GlassesShop.com, I received the product at no cost in order to facilitate this review.
What’s cool about this particular post though, is that it involves a sweet discount code for all of my readers and my glasses are pink!

Glasses Shop Review

As you can see, these specs are pretty out there. That’s exactly what I was going for when I chose them from the site and, if they’re  your cup of tea too, then you can find the product page here. At $20 a pop, they’re fantastic, discount eyeglasses and you can’t really go wrong. The absolute best part of dealing with Glasses Shop, on top of that pricing, is the fact that single vision prescription lenses are included FOR FREE, along with their anti-scratch coating.

I had an eye appointment last week and discovered that I have so little pigment in the back of my eye that it explains why I am already losing colour in them. My eyesight is perfect but the eye itself is probably going to become a little albino-looking in the years to come. Fine with me, as I happen to think the whole vampire look is rather sexy. Well, some anyway;

In all seriousness though, I have to protect the pigment that I have left with polarized sunglasses, whenever outside, all year round (I immediately wanted to start singing Sunglasses at Night by Cory Hart when told this),and that can be pretty expensive. It adds up when, as any person might, I want to buy a few different options for those days when I feel I need a change. I can’t do that if my glasses cost $300+ a piece; which, according to the insurance claim that I just put through for my sunglasses, would still be kinder pricing than I recently received.

Expensive Glasses Meme

I mean, let’s face it, some outfits pull together nicely with something so loud and then different occasions may require a more subtle, less distracting frame. I love being able to change things up once in a while and, even if I went with the necessary polarized pair, or even a transitioning one, Glasses Shop beats out my local retailers’ pricing by a mile. I thought that was a fantastic bonus.

Speaking of bonuses, please use the discount code AlysiaX20 to receive a further 20% off on the website. I’m not an affiliate of Glasses Shop, just a lady who likes to pass on some savings when possible. Enjoy!

Dragon Eyes Creepy Contact Lenses

It seems like I’m receiving more products to do with eyes, eye-wear and cosmetic eye changes lately. I can’t say that I’m complaining though, as they are the only feature that I like on my hot mess of a head. I would like to thank Spooky Eyes for sending me these aqua dragon contact lenses free of charge, in order to facilitate this review.

Creepy, aren’t they?!

contact lenses aqua dragonI tried to make my eyes the main focus in this, so pardon my lack of eyebrows but I didn’t opt to dig them out or draw them back in after covering everything with powder, It’s a shame that I wasn’t sent vampire or zombie contact lenses, as I could have done the whole shebang with very little make up. My lack of sunshine does wonders for my skin but very little for its pallor. I own it.

I put in my dragon eyes contact lenses while my husband was out with the kids so that I could get some pictures without an audience, or without a toddler hand in the frame. They like to ruin every one of my blog pictures with the world’s cutest photobombs. Well, when they got home I just went to greet everyone like normal and was met with mass hysteria, crying and panicked inquiries like, “Mummyyyy!! Why your eyes look like monsters?!

Clearly, they did the job.

dscf6959Who wouldn’t want to be greeted at the door by these peepers?!

I did find that these contact lenses, like the Hulk Eyes lenses that I reviewed for Spooky Eyes previously, felt slightly thicker than other coloured pairs that I have worn. They were, however, easier to put in. I’m not sure if that was the lens itself or it was simply my lucky day but application was very simple. I also found that they were worn for a longer period of time than the others, without my eye drying too badly.
What was weird about these dragon eyes lenses was the fact that the black slit turned around on its own free will. This did add to the creepy aspect of things, as I was google-eyed half the time, but they did not stay put as they should have.

I would recommend Spooky Eyes contact lenses for any short period of wear but, for longer periods of time, I suggest purchasing some Visine for every couple of hours. If you like the Aqua Dragon look, you can find the product page here.

Hulk Eyes Contact Lenses Review

One of my all-time favourite memes features the Big Guy himself and, no, I don’t mean God;

funny-pics-hulk-vicious-rage-and-im-an-alcoholic

Now, I’m not an alcoholic and I don’t fly off into a vicious rage but I love The Hulk, which is probably why I married him (sorry babe!). As a result, I jumped at the chance to review Hulk Eye contact lenses from Spooky Eyes, which I received at no cost in order to facilitate this post.

When looking for where to buy contact lenses, I’m always on the hunt for good pricing, preferably free shipping and quality contacts that have a decent water content so that they’re more comfortable. Spooky Eyes covers those bases and actually beats out the competition for pricing, especially where the Halloween contact lenses are concerned. I don’t have to wear them daily, and only ever use coloured contacts for a bit of a cosmetic change, but I use a few pairs each year. If I find ones that I really like, I’ll wear them more often.

The Spooky Eyes site, found here, is very easy to navigate and shows a wide variety of coloured contact lenses that they have available. There are all kinds of pairs, from completely black contacts to dragon-looking lenses and zombie white out lenses. My son wore that kind, although from a different provider, this Halloween and they were incredibly freaky looking. As mentioned, I went with the Hulk Eyes and they look like this outside of the eye;

As you can see, the lens is quite detailed and uses a variety of colour to make a single, overall effect.

I have green eyes naturally so I decided, for this review, to wear only one contact lens and compare the two. Here, you can see the difference between my natural eye colour and the green contact lens;

With Spooky Eyes contact lenses, site found here, I found that these felt a bit thicker inside my eye than others I have worn and they were quite a bit bigger around. I’m not sure if that was the intended effect or just that they’re larger than most. They were very easy to apply, although I did feel they dried out relatively quickly and I had to put in some Visine in order to stay comfortable. I think, for the price, they are well worth the purchase if you intend to wear them for only short periods of time.
